Meeting with Aanchal Malhotra
For her visit to Paris, Aanchal Malhotra, an Indian artist and historian specializing in memory, has honored us by organizing a meeting with our Young Leaders and friends of the Fondation France-Asie.
Throughout South Asia and its diaspora, there are still countless accounts of the partition of British India in 1947. Violence is omnipresent, but the memory of this violence is never simplistic. Speaking to survivors and descendants, using second-hand objects and memorabilia, oral historian Aanchal Malhotra brings out the shared, multi-generational and cross-border legacy of Partition in her decade-long research.
Aanchal received her BFA (Traditional Printmaking and Art History) from the Ontario College of Art & Design in Toronto, and her MFA (Studio Art) from Concordia University in Montreal. His work has been exhibited in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and India.
